Director, Infrastructure Services

Director, Infrastructure Services

Strategic leadership role
An exciting time in this city’s development

The City of Launceston is Tasmania’s largest council, providing services and facilities to a population of 67,000 within a municipality of 1,400 square kilometres. The Council is successfully pursuing its strategic goals, supporting the city’s transition into a regional city for the future and facilitating major investment and development. Its approach to regionally significant infrastructure and transport is of strategic importance and will form a key part of the Director’s accountability.

You will lead a team in the delivery and execution of a range of initiatives, providing strategic insights and setting the future vision for the infrastructure services directorate. With $1.5b assets and a portfolio which includes operations, parks/recreation, infrastructure projects and waste management, you will set and execute objectives to strengthen financial sustainability, ensure good governance and compliance. As part of the Executive Management Team, the Director is expected to provide insightful counsel in all areas of the directorate responsibility and to support the City of Launceston’s overarching strategy.

From a leadership perspective, you will be accountable for the development of a large team, fostering an environment where every member can reach their fullest potential. To lead the next part of this directorate’s evolution, you will need proven credentials in strategic asset and infrastructure management, likely gained in a government context, at a senior executive level. You’ll possess a contemporary approach to leadership, be a champion for change and have excellent stakeholder management skills. Your technical foundation in engineering (or related) fields will be complemented by high level strategic and conceptual thinking abilities.

This is an exciting time to live in one of Australia’s most liveable regional cities and to make a real contribution to Launceston’s future.
